We ventured into Indiana for many reasons like family, work, and hobbies. While living in the center of Illinois it was not a lengthy trip to travel there. It was the state to the east of Illinois and therefore we had reason to be there more often than, say, Hawaii.
My oldest brother lived in Indiana for a number of years and we visited a few times. But even before they moved there my wife had found the Exit 76 Edinburgh Antiques Mall, one of the first places she frequented when she could though such visits took years off my life.
She could spend all day in that place and usually did. It's funny how you get rid of stuff all through your youth and then one day decide that you're going to start buying all those things you wish you had or wish you kept, at twenty times the price. That was her hobby, and still is to this day.
My wife's parents lived in Terra Haute, Indiana, for several years and we drove there and back a number of times. Terra Haute was just inside Indiana coming from Illinois so it wasn't a very long trip. Other than that there were a lot of drives through Indiana on Highway 70 going out to see my brothers when they both were in Ohio and other times for vacation on the East Coast. Coming back to central Illinois we would stop in Crawfordsville and sometimes stay overnight at a hotel if it was late.
Until next time,
Arktander,
(aka David Andreasen)
