We lived in the northwest corner of Illinois for seven years in a very small town so we did our best to find things elsewhere on our time off. Dubuque, Iowa, was one of the towns that was fairly close and we went there a lot. If we made the trip to Galena, Illinois, we would often take a gander into Dubuque. It was one of the larger towns we could visit when we lived in a town of population 1,600.
There are some things you try once and that is enough. Then there are things you start early on and find continued fascination in them over the years. Join me in a journey down memory lane through the events that helped shape my life. Plus I'm hoping you'll learn some new things to use in your life's adventure!

#15, Iowa IA (Been There)
Mostly we just travelled through Iowa on our way to other places, just as we did Delaware and Oklahoma and other states. For three years I travelled between Quincy, Illinois and Minneapolis, Minnesota while attending college. I worked my way over to Highway 35 which brought me into the city. That was in the days before GPS and cell phones but we were pretty good with paper maps. Same thing with travelling Highway 80 west when we went to Kansas and Colorado. There was never anyone I knew in Iowa that I needed to visit and that's probably a shame. But I did see a lot of soybeans and corn in the fields I passed by.
Until next time,
Arktander
